VISAKHAPATNAM:
With the elections looming large, Vizag-based jute baron BV Rama Rao on
Tuesday announced the formation of a new party — Jai Andhra People's
United Front (JAPUF) — to protect the interests of the people of Coastal
Andhra that comprises nine districts. Incidentally, his son BV Ram is
the president of Telugu Shakti, a local outfit. Addressing a press
conference on Tuesday, Rama Rao came down heavily on Union ministers and
MPs for "misleading the people and crippling the
region for six months due to strikes that also caused heavy losses to the state exchequer."
He alleged that ministers and MPs of all the parties kept people in dark and played with their sentiments for their political gains.
He held all the political parties like Congress, YSRCP, TDP, BJP and others responsible for the crisis.
He said that the new party will hold meetings in all the districts of Coastal Andhra for the development of the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh and will campaign against other political parties and expose their vote-bank games, particularly with reference to the division of state.
Rama Rao said that the front will also contest the elections and field candidates against all the Union ministers in the nine districts, with "Development of Andhra" as their slogan.tnn It will allot 50% seats to women, with priority to the reserved castes, he added.
